Today, it’s been a semester since I came to Shanghai to study and my Chinese girlfriend nicely offered me a pear after a long exam. I cut the fruit to share it with her. When I saw her burst in tears, I understood that it was a way to announce a breakup in China. FML

I know that’s a thing but I think people nowadays under the age of 35 especially city people don’t take that one so seriously anymore. Unless she’s from the boonies and just showed up in Shanghai. All my Shanghainese friends would never react that adversely especially if they know the other person is a foreigner.

Today, while delivering pizza I was yet again given $0.04 over the total bill and told condescendingly to "keep the change." This happens on every shift. My pay is reduced during deliveries, and I drive my own car, and use my own gas. For $0.04. FML

Today, I foolishly asked my dad why he had a disability rail fitted, not in his bathroom next to the toilet, but above his bed instead. He told me that with his bad joints, he needs something to grab onto on Saturday nights while he’s plowing my mom doggy style. FML

Today, I have to figure out how to summon the courage to explain to my husband that I’m six weeks pregnant. We haven’t had sex since he got into a car accident that severely paralyzed him from the waist down about a year ago. The worst part? The father could be his brother or my coworker. FML
