If either of you were involved in your son's life at all, you'd have known he was struggling in school and set limits on video gaming time. You and your partner are responsible for this outcome. Also, selling his video games was incredibly wrong. It's easier to sell instead of restricting access and following through, isn't it?

Did you let the games console do the babysitting? This is your fault for not being more involved. You could have at least confiscated them, set boundaries and had a clear plan for him to earn them back. But no, you just went for the most drastic option. He has time to get his grades up before the end of school. Why didn't his teachers contact either of you?
