Today, my mom told me she wasn't an alcoholic because she doesn't get "black out drunk" daily. She only gets drunk enough to slur her words and reek of alcohol daily, so it's okay. FML

I definitely think that if she got mad at you it's because she doesn't want you to end up like her, or go through the same things she's been through. just becase she doesn't admit it out loud doesn't mean she isn't conscious of what she's doing though, and it can't be easy admitting that kind of thing. good luck though

Maybe she's subconsciously not wanting you to follow in her footsteps. To be in denial, you have to on some level know the problem exists. Look at her reaction mercifully and try to help her help herself. Good luck, OP. That kind of life sucks butt.

I didn't get in trouble for my first hangover at 13... the day after my cousin's wedding. but that's because my parents gave me all their champagne because they didn't like it.
