Today, I found out that I have to work Christmas Day. There's no public transport running and taxis are triple fare. It'll cost me more getting to work than I'll actually earn during the shift. FML

Today, I had to take a taxi to work, because I was pressed for time, and didn't have a ride there. When I got to work, I paid the cab driver, and realized I had spent more money on the cab than I was going to make at work. FML

Today, the bus I needed to catch, that replaced the train I needed to catch, to get the flight home was full. I had to get a taxi instead. £140 to the nearest working train station. FML

Today, I'm supposed to be starting on the first part of a 9 hour road trip. My only coworker called in sick, so instead I had to go into work. One hour there, one hour back, and a 9-to-5 day. This would have been my first holiday in 7 years. After getting to work, I realised I'd forgotten my work keys in my other clothes. FML

I. FEEL. SO. *******. BAD. FOR. YOU. i was a little bit annoyed i had to work the morning of the 24th. i would say, skip work and tell that ******* boss to **** off. if this means you no longer have your job, it's probably healthier anyway.

Most employers will reinburse you for the cost of your journey if on a one off you can't get in any other way than taxi! When you pay the driver ask for a receipt and give it in at work! I've done this a few times after missing the last bus and my boss refunds me the fare!

I think it is over here aswell.......but, OP waited until christmas eve....bit late to sort it now. Days you don't want to/can't work, you have to tell your ******* boss!
