lol that sucks for the firemen. but i don't think i would have opened my door either--i mean the OP could have just tried to slow down a bit the stick the money out the window which I've done before, but might not have wanted to completely stop for fear of impeding traffic. i probably would have just gone back later. but still, when you remembered your window was broken you shouldn't have held your money against it like oh no what do i do now maybe i can press this 20 dollar bill through the glass? haha. oh, and get your window fixed

The street was probably bustling - that's why the firemen were collecting money. What, would they stand on some side street? If someone makes the effort to come to FML and post something, they obviously feel bad. Sometimes, it's a flop, but in times like this, it's not. You don't know that the street wasn't a main street, or that traffic was piled up, or that there simply was no way to park somewhere.

Like everyone else said! Open the door! Sometimes they're asking for donations for a few days or even a weekend, so you might be able to catch them again.

If it was one of those things where you have to keep going and just drop the money in the bucket as you pass then they couldn't have just stopped. If it's near your house though maybe go back later and give it them, seeing as you obviously wanted to donate it.

Stopping to open the door would take all of 5 seconds to do, the angry people behind you scorning you for slowing traffic for 5 seconds more to donate can shove it. I think the OP just had a brainfart when this happened.
