Today, I found a wallet on the train. I called the owner, who said he would come around and pick it up. When he finally did, he looked inside and screamed that his money was missing, and that I was a dirty thief. I never took a cent. He's filing theft charges against me. FML

Today, I found a wallet containing an ID card. I managed to track down the owner, who now is threatening to call the police if I don't return the 400 dollars that he insists were also in it. FML

Today, I felt a tug on my backpack and found my wallet missing. A nice stranger pointed to a guy running down the stairs and said "There goes the guy who took your wallet!" I ran to catch the supposed offender. The 'nice' stranger was the actual offender distracting me as he got away. FML

Today, I had gone to the store and bought a new wallet. 5 minutes later a security guard asks for my receipt. Turns out I had dropped my receipt. Some guy had picked it up and pretended I had stole his wallet. The guard confiscated my wallet because the guy had "his" receipt to prove it. FML

Today, a passenger in my taxi left without paying. They left their phone, so I posted a message about it from their social media, exposing them. Turns out they'd stolen the phone from someone else. I ended up getting arrested. FML

I would tell him go ahead and file charges- he didn't SEE you take the money, which you didn't, and he can't prove it. End of story. This is why people don't do nice things anymore- cuz it bites them in the butt.

no theif wants to get caught. but a theif could find a wallet, steal the money, call the owner, and tell him he found it that way... the owner wouldnt know if that person stold the money or if he found it empty...

no way the charges will stand up in court. A. Why would you steal the money then wait for him to come get his wallet? B. They need evidence to prove that you took the money, like for instance, having the exact amount cash missing on your person.

YDI, you never personally return a wallet because if money is missing you are the automatic suspect. You either drop it in a mailbox(the post office will mail the wallet back to them) or take it to the nearest police station

Why would you be the suspect? What person in their right mind would steal from a wallet then *have the person over* to pick it up from them personally? That guy's an idiot.
