Today, my dad was teaching me how to drive. He told me that stop signs with white outlines are "optional." I ran through the next one I saw and got pulled over by a cop. My dad is making me pay the ticket for being "that stupid." Thanks dad. FML

Today, I accidentally edged over the speed limit and got pulled over. The officer asked me if I knew why he'd pulled me over. Before I could say something diplomatic, my dad said from the passenger seat, "Because you're a prick in fancy dress?" I got ticketed. FML

Today, my cousin told me that the stop signs outlined with a white line were optional. Later, a cop pulled me over, when I asked why he said, "You ran that stop sign back there." I explained what my cousin had told me and he looked at me funny and replied, "All stop signs have a white outline." FML

Today, my mom told me to follow her car closely to my aunt's house. I kept really close to her which caused me to get pulled over for tailgating. I explained everything to the cop so he went over to my mom to see if that was the truth. My mom said she didn't know me. I got a ticket. Thanks mom. FML

Today, I was driving home from work when I saw a cop come up behind me. Nervous about my expired license, I kept checking in my rear view mirror. In turn since I wasn't paying attention, I ran a stop sign. Needless to say the cop pulled me over and gave me 2 tickets. FML

Today, a police officer gave me a ticket for smoking. He told me that my parents would have to be contacted to come pick me up. My drunk dad came to the rescue, and almost hit the police car. Way to go dad. FML

Today, I was on the way to traffic court for a $340 speeding ticket I'd got. My mother called me and I wasn't paying attention which caused me to speed. Right past a cop. When I told the cop where I was going, he started laughing at me. I now have another $300 ticket. FML

"Have" and "of" are two different words. I think knowing that is about on par with knowing what a stop sign means.

No, this is NOT about OP being stupid. It's the fact that OP is young and impressionable, and that OP's dad is abusing that trust by misleading his child in life. Does no one else remember being young and naive? Okay, so maybe it is a tad stupid or blonde, or whatever, but OP is in the learning process, which is admitting to the instructor that OP needs the teaching from someone who has been driving for some time. In this case, that someone is OP's dad, who purposefully misinformed OP. Children are supposed to be able to trust their parents, and that's just not okay for him to do that. OP, Take this as a lesson and don't listen to him, but from someone who won't jerk you around, and always triple check that information to make sure that it *is* in fact accurate.
