I hope you clarified it. It's possible he said all that because the four words out of your mouth upset him but he wanted to give you the impression that he was fine.
This is an important thing to learn: "We need to talk" is never good.
thats why you dont start out by saying, "we need to talk"
we need to talk usually does not lead to a good conversation, silly
I agree with #49, the fact that he said it so fast means he probably didn't want to break up with you but assumed you were about to break up with him and then said that so he wouldn't feel like a loser when you dumped him. If you're both in high school, multiply the probability of this theory being true by 5.

I'm pretty sure "we need to talk" is a universally recognised code for "I'm about to break up with you".
