Whenever I go running I have to choose between dodging cars or running on people's lawns. "Are you like those assholes who ride their bikes on the road instead of the sidewalk? Because if you are, YDI." It is ILLEGAL to ride your bike on the sidewalk.
pedestrians always have the right of way unless you ran out in front of them of course
Firstly, not all neighborhoods have sidewalks, secondly it sounds like you were not running against traffic but with traffic because the car had to 'stop than go forward' to see if you were ok. Lastly, did you suffer any head injuries, as many have poited out, your story is hard to understand.
