Today, my dad told me he was planning to have his steady girlfriend over for dinner. He's only had a few relationships since he and my mom split up when I was very young, so I was excited to meet the woman. He then told me that I knew her already. My dad is dating my aunt on my mothers side. FML

Today, I just found out my dad got remarried a year ago. The woman is officially living with us, I got to have lunch with her alone today. I found out she is only 22, with a 14 year-old little brother. My dad's 47. I'm 17, now with a 14 year-old uncle, and a mom that can pass for my girlfriend. FML

There is not objective reason for why the situation could be "wrong." Your dad fell in love. The person just happened to be your aunt. So what? Let him be happy. It's not like he planned it. "Love is blind."

My uncle (after being divorced from my moms sister for years) wanted to date my mom & said, "I always knew I married the wrong sister" ...yeah, it is kiiinda weird to explain, but I wouldn't exactly be mad at it... My mom had a diff. opinion though- oh well.

My family is Mexican and we have that same situation. Op's family doesn't have to be white trash, the family could be of a different ethnicity and culture. All cultures are different.
