Today, I received a late Christmas present from my estranged father. I was really excited, having neither seen nor heard from him in nearly two years. It was a $200 gift card for a store that only exists in Canada. I don't live in Canada. Not even close. FML

stop being a brat. he didn't have to send you anything you know and complaining about it on fml really isn't solving the problem. build a bridge and get over it op. ydi for posting this dumb fml.

It's the thought that counts? See if they do online shopping.

If the dad can't get it together to contact his child in 2 years, why are people assuming the card was an act of kindness? Workin with deadbeat dads, my guess is that he wants to get in touch, but doesn't know how and just found a card someone lost. Op, there are Canadian websites where you can sell that stuff for close to face value. Also not to sound lame, but I hope you know your dads stuff is about him, not about you.

Yes the thought does count, maybe they are trying to get you to come to Canada for a visit... Or just a moron who didn't check what shops you have near you lol As said, online shop probably or eBay it ;)

If he lives in Canada, he probably wants you to visit him

At least he gave you a present! be thankful
