Sounds like he's trying. I use to have a girlfriend like that, she loved gifts and only gifts, but she hated any acknowledgement that she loved trinkets. If stuff is your love language there is no shame in that.

The way it sounds, this seems like one of those unofficial “implied” relationships that you take more seriously than he does. After 14 years, if he doesn’t see that HE is more than likely the problem, then I don’t see another 14 years fixing that.
