Today, I was uninvited to the family Christmas party. Apparently, everyone is tired of me "refusing to watch or discipline my own kids". Sure, one of them is autistic and has violent meltdowns, but I thought it took a village to raise a child? FML

Today, I was uninvited from every family event henceforth, because I finally had it and told my sister that I can’t stand to be around her horribly misbehaved kids. They have screaming meltdown tantrums, throw and break things, start fights and steal. How am I the bad guy? FML

Today, I'm not going to our family Christmas party due to events last year that caused me to cut off contact with one of my sisters. My entire family is now making me out to be the villain to my 8 year-old, and trying to manipulate my decision with guilt trips. They have reduced me to tears 12 days in a row. FML

Today, I was told I'm not invited to my best friend's birthday party. Apparently, being divorced and childless doesn't "mesh" well with the rest of the group. My parents are still watching her kids so she can go away for the weekend. FML

Today, I was told by a family member that if we come over on Christmas and my small children get upset or throw a fit, we will be asked to leave. I can't guarantee that my 2-year-old and 3-year-old won't have any meltdowns, so I guess we won't be spending Christmas with the rest of the family. FML

Is your autistic child a teenager yet? My daughter started having very violent meltdowns when she hit puberty. Discipline is probably not what they need because they’re so overwhelmed that they cannot control themselves. Find a doctor who specializes in special needs and see if they need a mood stabilizer.

correct it does take a village but as the parent YOU still hold largest part of the responsibility when it comes to YOUR child

I agree wholeheartedly with jlc82. That doesn't mean you can just dump your kids on someone else completely. You're all guests at someone's home, and you're still responsible for them. You're taking advantage of your family, and they all know it. 100% YDI.
