Today, I learned that several thousand people in my state got tickets this month for driving and talking on the phone. My mom called to tell me this while I was driving. I'm now part of that statistic. Thanks, mom. FML

When you know it's illegal to talk on the phone while driving, why would you answer the phone when you are driving? Either pull the vehicle over or use a Bluetooth headset. Most phones have the ability to use one. It's not illegal to talk on the phone with a Bluetooth (correct me if I'm wrong since some states have different laws, etc). Spend $20 on a Bluetooth headset or hundreds of dollars on an avoidable ticket. Either way pay attention to the road. I can't stand the thought of people being hurt over talking/texting while driving that can so easily be avoided.

It's like the phone causes some sort of OCD in some people. They will answer, no matter the situation, and being unable to answer a call or text immediately gives them a panic attack.

Sorry op I understand, I have that kind of mom too, except when I don't answer she keeps calling. Next time pull over, or at least use speaker phone.

Some people just need someone to blame. It wasn't her fault that you picked up the phone, and you had full knowledge of the law you were breaking. YDI.
