OP here. The restaurant allows dogs, saying its illegal when it's obviously not makes no sense. He is 5 months, more than a week after the vaccination. No way was he going anywhere the day of. He goes on walks in public (touristy) areas and has met many people and dogs. He had never thrown up before so that's why it was so surprising. He has been fine since so we just have to chalk it up to excitement. He was very well behaved but very upset that none of the food going by was for him. And no we absolutely can not leave him alone while we go out. He is like a toddler, I go pee and he has gotten into something, if there is nothing to get into he chews on furniture, if there's no furniture he chews himself and barks until he gets tired. We definitely want him social and coming out with us over all that.

You definitely deserve it. no matter how well behaved your dog is, a restaurant is not an appropriate place to bring your pet. i have well behaved chickens but i don't bring them to olive garden.
It's entirely possible that it was an outdoor patio. I live in a very dog friendly area and, while the dogs are not allowed inside the restaurant or cafe, calm, well behaved dogs are allowed to be in the outdoor seating areas, many of which either have a gate to get to the back seating or just have their tables out front. Some places even have dog menus. Our area also has a lot of festivals and big town events in the summer and they are a popular thing to bring dogs to. With the short summers we have, you'll see dogs under just about every outdoor table at any restaurant or cafe. My dogs go just about everywhere with me, but even I wouldn't eat at a restaurant that allowed dogs inside (other than service dogs, of course) and I am all for kicking out a dirty dog or an unruly dog.
Dude, chill. The pub next door (I'm in Scotland) allows well behaved dogs. It also allows well behaved cats. The cat whom belongs to my neighbours who live above the pub, visits the pub near daily, the locals know Tom, the cat, very well. He visits the pub, is given food and treats, and chills on a seat somewhere. Karen, the pub owner, is happy for your well behaved animals to accompany you, but if they misbehave then you are expected to leave.
Aww, I'm sorry you don't have pub cats! :( Tom sometimes sits on the bar, behind the bar, on the pool table, or the seats. He's adorable, a very fluffy black and white cat. He's well loved by the regulars and Karen is always buying cat food for him (she's a crazy cat lady like myself). :D
Just because your dog got excited doesn't mean it's not well behaved, my friends dog pees when she's excited but she's fully house trained. It's just what puppies are like.
I find it cute, lol. Other than the throw up being a stinky mess... still cute when dogs get overly excited
In all honesty, this puppy sounds like it is far too young to be taken anywhere that isn't set up to handle dog messes. In the beginning, stores like Petsmart, Petco, privately owned pet stores, etc. are the ideal places to take a puppy because messes are expected. There are cleaning stations all over those kinds of stores so it's just not a big deal if your puppy makes a mess. Friends' houses, outdoor activities, pet stores, and things like that are where you should be taking a pup. Something like a restaurant isn't something I would take a dog to until I knew, without a doubt, that he could handle it. I know puppies who are VERY well behaved because they are just naturally calm and easygoing. I've had one like that that I could take anywhere from day one, but most puppies just aren't like that. All of my others had to build up to things like dining out with us where dogs were allowed under the tables in the outdoor seating.

Show it anywayPeople are loud, obnoxious, and messy. At least dogs are cute.
I'm a social scientist, I study the behaviour of people, people within societies and societies themselves and I can tell you that people are ******* assholes. People cheat, lie, want money and power, when they have power they abuse that power, people are selfish, always using people and keep secrets from one another. Pets, such as dogs and cats, are loyal, loving, happy to see their owners, make us happy, are there for us, make us feel loved, make us feel safe. My cat, whom I adopted about 8 months ago, is 16 but with the heart and energy of a kitten, is currently curled up into me in bed and purring away happily. He loves playing with me, likes to sit by my side, sit on my lap, sit next to me on the sofa, lies on my bed at night either next to me, on my feet, or curled up to my shoulder. He makes me feel loved and I love him. People are assholes, but pets love us unconditional, that's why people want pets.
Amen, 28!
I have a dog and i got it mostly because i felt threaten by my neighbor who used to knock on my door saying he'd beat me up every time he was drunk. He stopped since i have my dog and it's really not a messy animal, nor loud. I even had people over and they didn't know he was there until he actually arrived in the room. Because there is actually something you NEED to do when you have a dog. Train it. People are just the same as dogs, if someone doesn't raise their kids, they will grow up to be loud and messy too. Please grow a brain. You're acting like this people who don't like cats and say "duh cats ALWAYS claw you when you try to pet them."
I like dogs and all, but I wouldn't want to eat in a restaurant that allows them. Excluding service animals obviously.
Your puppy made a poopy surprise! And puppies are very easily excitable. This was lack of judgement on your part.
"You pooped in the refrigerator? ....And you ate the whole... wheel of cheese? How'd you do that!? Heck, I'm not even mad! That's amazing!"
