Today, my fiancé confronted me about our wedding arrangements. Apparently, if he's not allowed to wear a duct-tape tuxedo and have a Jesus impersonator as his best man, the wedding is off. FML

Hey guys, OP here. I agreed to the Jesus as the best man but not the tux. No, I'm not going to dump him or call the wedding off because of his ideas, since it isn't just the woman's day but his too. It isn't too terrible to have have a little spunk at Our wedding ;P

I believe that weddings are all about the joining of two people, not just females.

Btw, the best man is there historically if the family of the captured bride tries to take her back. After the wedding the fate of the bride is sealed. This man will kill to keep the wedding on. Jesus probably wouldn't kill.

OP, clearly, your fiancé is either trying to get out of marrying you or he's an idiot. I have three words to say to you- Duct Tape Speedo. See what happens. Either that or dump him.

He's looking for an out or he's 15... Just walk away

Lucky you, now you don't have to worry about a divorce later.

I would say ig it's off then :)

I wonder how is he going to take off the tuxedo after the wedding? It might be fun to watch, no?

That's nice that you can compromise but can he? I'd worry about him wanting to call off your wedding if he doesn't get his way. There's better ways to voice your desires without threats of not wanting to marry you at all.

No the tux would have been great. I had a friend go to prom with one. I thought his date would think it was stupid, but to my surprise his date, my date, his ex, and several other girls thought it was creative. He basically stole girl from a bunch of guys including me. On second thought you may not want that to happening OP.

Well you are 18 and I'm guessing your fiancé is close to your age too? Not so surprising if he wants a Jesus best-man or duct tape suit. If I got married in my teens, my husband would probably want a spit roast reception on the beach in our swimsuits.

Gratz on the wedding OP, and good for you being a reasonable person :)

Lol! I know right. &"The wedding is off if I a don't get my Jesus impersonator! " that's redicculous . I mean there's such thing as spunk but that is just dumb.

I think what's ridiculous is your spelling and use of punctuation...

Congratulations on your engagement! Your wedding sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun. There's nothing wrong with breaking away from tradition. My boyfriend and I have already planned to walk down the aisle to the Cha Cha Slide.

If this sounds insane... Perhaps he's looking for an out. If it's actually something he wants then let him. A wedding is supposed to be a celebration of your commitment to each other. It should reflect your appreciation of each other... Not how you'd like to change each other.

#114- what does the fact that OP is 18 have anything to do with it? Those are actually very creative and unique ideas. Just another way to make their day uniquely about them, and completely unforgettable. You should never hate on other people's weddings, it's not about you and your opinion doesn't matter. It's their day.

And #155- what does it matter that she is 18? You can find love at any age. I commend her, I too am getting married at 18. It takes some guts because we have to deal with people who hate on us and say we are "too young". I can't stand it when people are like "you're only 18? You can't get married, you don't even know what love is yet!" oh, please. Hal of the people who say that have been married 4/5 times. And they want to tell other people about how to find a life-long love? Stop being so judgmental.

Too young to get married... Hope you're part of that 0,0001% that can make it work at that age.

There are actually plenty who are still making it work... Your percentage means nothing...

did anyone know 75% of statistics are made up?.

A few generations ago 18 was the normal age to get married. My grandparents were married at 18 and are still together to this day.

That would be really funny, but potentially a big mistake. If you want him to do this and you believe that 30-50 years later you will still look back on this and laugh, then do it. It's YOUR wedding. But if it bothers you, then talk to him. If he loves you, he'll meet middle ground. He might ditch the duct tape and just keep the Jesus impersonator. ;)

Call his bluff sounds like cold feet to me.

If it were my wedding it would be off, he sounds like a immature asshole

A wedding is also the grooms day, he's allowed to have requests!
