Honestly this one is a bit weird to me but it seems kinda harmless. Maybe he just has a fetish. If I were you OP, I'd try it just once and if you don't like it then tell him afterwards it's not your thing. Maybe it's weird but I've had fun trying things I thought I wouldn't like. :)

It sucks, fetish usually implies either a strong sexual kink or a life style so yes it is a place to judge when it can affect both. Some fetishes no matter how much we try to be open are not going to be cool with most water sports, and the more rare or extreme stuff.
