yea you're not ignorant, but you sure are arrogant about your accomplishments.
I can see why you would feel offended, I would as well. And with kids these days, that's certainly not the first assumption I would come to.
i agree with #82. my sister is mentally and physically disabled and i've ripped up a few people from mocking her or other people with disabilities. if someone tore me up while i was in public with my sister for her mocking their family, i might be mad at first, but you forgive pretty quickly. ignorance is everywhere - my sympathies to the OP for living in the states. talk about rampant.
yeah lets just talk the kids that have mental disabilities out of being disabled.......if that actually worked.....autism wouldnt be a problem now would it? andddd you sure you're so mature- you have to brag about all your "accomplishments" that have nothing to do with what we're talking about here. no one cares what you do.
honestly i would of done the same thing. my son ha down syndrome so i can relate.
Autism is not a sickness. Thanks.
difference between you and a child with autism: you can defend yourself physically and verbally. often they can't. people with disabilities get taken advantage of and physically, verabally, and emotionally abused ALL THE TIME. and it's by people like you - who think defending themselves is their own problem. if your brother is dead, fine. but don't you dare try to understand people and their families living with mental disabilities, because you never, ever will.
People, seriously, cut the OP some slack here. It was stated "fed up with children mocking my son" it clearly shows that this type of thing happens often and it seems to be the straw that broke the camel's back. I cannot say for certain, but it seems to me like the OP does not go up and lecture people every time someone mocks her son - this could have happened to be one too many times for the OP to sit quietly. Also, nobody should judge unless they're in the same situation. People can say all they want about how they would theoretically handle these situations, but unless you have a child with a disability you cannot honestly say how you would react.

Sooo thats good right? under the circumstances? They can be friends =]
I understand why you'd be mad.. A close family member of mine is autistic and it makes me very angry if people imitate him.
