Coming from the perspective of a woman who has had the same thing happen, it is hurtful. It feels like saying, "I don't enjoy having sex with you as much anymore," and can really make you feel like you're doing everything wrong in the relationship. Ignoring the asker completely is immature and a bit of an overreaction, but OP is not entirely innocent.

"It feels like saying," But he wasn't saying that. You're just interpreting it that way. If OP's girlfriend didn't even ask what he meant by what he said (because honestly, that question is pretty vague), then I think it's unfair to judge OP with just assumptions.
