Today, I found out that when my parents said they couldn't afford gifts for us kids, what they really meant was that they weren't buying a gift for me. I found this out when I overheard my father telling my uncle about the things he got my siblings. FML

Not quite the same but my parents had shares for all three of their children. My brother got his when they matured on his 18th, my sister got hers when they matured on her 18th. Me, the youngest, got nothing because my parents are shit with money and were skint by the time I turned 18.
