I'm a bit confused too. But according to urbandictionary, "flower pot" means "When you soil/shart you underwear, then remove the underwear and put them on someones head." Maybe the person who posted the fml meant soiled underwear? Even then its a bit confusing...unless the flatmate had sh*t themselves and came out in their underwear to help.

What this person is saying is there new flat mate offered to help BUT with a flower pot, this is called Fmylife.. so obviously he thought the flower pot would help but come on.. a Flower pot in the drain to get out keys wouldnt work.. logic explanation the person who suggested it is an Idiot.

wow #55 you're a little behind. the OP isn't american. we say roommate. british people and other europeans live in flats and have flatmates. FYL for not knowing that. but yeah, this FML is weird and i definitely don't get it.

the first thing i thought when i read this was that a flower pot got knocked off the edge of their balcony/ windowsill and hit the OP in the head while he was trying to retrieve his keys.

Man I know how you feel, the other day I was trying to get to a fuse I had dropped behind the air conditioner and my landlord assisted me... with a harp. Oh wait, epiphany moment... He met the flatmate for the first time, right? And he's from Finland, so this translation might be a little loose. Say he drops his keys in somewhere that's part of the building. It looks like he's breaking in, his flatmate (unaware that he lives there) assaults him with a flower pot. My mental image is of him reaching in through the mail slot and grabbing at keys only to get his hand smashed, though I have no idea how he would've dropped his keys in there.

ok this is what happened: the guy dropped his keys. the first interaction with his new flatmate (the person who he now will be living with) is when the new flatmate suggests using the flowerpot to get keys from the drain. the reason this is an FML is because the poster realised he now lives with an idiot. cant believe i made an account and spent ages on this slow computer just to prove i knew the answer. FML.
