Today, I rented a 4x4 to take my wife to a secret secluded beach for our anniversary. I got as close as I could to the spot and parked on the beach. After a few romantic hours we returned to find the car half way up the windows with water. I forgot it was king tide. FML

Life's a beach

Today, I went tanning on the beach. I found a nice spot close to shore and laid there with my towel and sunglasses. A few hours later, I awoke to waves splashing at me. My towel was soaked and my sunglasses must have washed off the shore. Damn high tide. FML

Today, I went to the beach with a friend. We'd forgotten to get our towels out of the SUV, so I rushed back to the parking lot. I opened the passenger-side door and climbed in to begin my search. After ten seconds or so, I realized I'd busted into someone else's car. FML

Today, I thought it would be romantic to take my girlfriend to the beach. It was raining so we left our shoes and phones in the car so we wouldn't be bothered. Apparently, I left my keys in the car too. The car was locked. FML

Today, I finally got my new car delivered to my home. After clicking some pics, I was walking around it, just admiring it, and tripped. Both sets of keys fell down the storm water drain. It rained heavily last night and this morning, so the water inside is still flowing. FML

Today, after walking on the beach for an hour with a friend, I noticed I'd lost my car keys. Thirty minutes from my friend's house, three hours from mine. It was getting dark & the tide was rising. We retraced our steps with no luck; the keys could’ve been washed away. I'd also locked my keys in the car earlier this week an hour from home. FML

Today, I was kayaking with my family for my birthday when we tipped over while going down a rocky cascade. My husband badly cut up his arm, and my car keys and my phone both went for a swim and never returned. Great birthday. FML

Today, I waited in the pouring rain for my wife to come pick me up from work. It was only after I was thoroughly drenched that I remembered it was my wife's day off, and that I drove myself to work earlier in her car, which was parked fifty feet from where I was waiting. FML

Today, my wife's water broke so I drove her to the hospital. After 16 hours without labor, I went home to get a little sleep. Four hours later I got the call and ran outside to find that my car was towed from my parking space. FML

Tide or no tide, who parks their car SO close to the beach (By that I mean the actual sea) that it gets washed with water? YDI, but at least you got a free wash! always look on the bright side of things.

You deserved this completely. I mean, it wouldn't necessarily kill you to park away from your spot, it would actually make it more romantic, walking down the beach, holding hands. It's just a case of forgetfulness, and tbh, a bit of bad planning

I've taken my truck on the beach many times and never had this problem! The reason? I keep it away from the water!!!! You FAILED!!!

who parks that close to the water first off. second who parks that's close and forgets to look at the car once while the tide was coming in. were you not in the water watching it rise and get closer and closer to your vehicle?? ydi

If you parked there to get close to your romantic spot I would presume that your spot was even closer to the water. How'd you get back to the car after you'd already drowned?

YDI for not checking the tides, both for reasons like this, and also because beaches are usually much nicer to walk on at low tide (unless it's smelly at low tide, in which case you should still check the tides to avoid that!)
