Today, it was my last day at work. I was offered a better job and accepted. Not wanting to leave my present boss hanging, I asked for time to give notice. While I trained my replacement, the owner at the new job had time to think about how slow the season is, and he decided not to fill the position. FML

Today, I left my job, fulfilling my one month's notice after receiving a job offer from a much better-paying role. After saying goodbye to everyone, I left the building. Today, it was the first day of my new job. It was also the last day of my new job. I got a call immediately after finishing my shift to be told the company has "decided to go in a different direction" and will no longer be needing my services. FML

Today, fifteen minutes before the end of the day, my boss asked me who I was training to replace me. He then said never mind, that it was his job to choose someone. I hadn't indicated that I was planning on leaving the company. FML

Today, I got a better job offer out of the blue, more pay, less work. I informally accepted and handed my notice as legally required. They rescinded the job offer. I'm now unemployed at the end of hiring season. FML

Office life sucks

Today, I was supposed to start a new job. I had accepted a new position with a different company three weeks ago, and gave my notice. At the time, I even trained my replacement. Today, I found out that my new work doesn't need me anymore. So, I'm unemployed. FML

Today, I was offered my dream job. When I gave my current employer my 2+ weeks notice so they'd have time to find a replacement, I was told to pack up and leave immediately. Now I'm out a month's pay because I gave notice instead of just leaving. FML

Today, I went into work thinking it was my last day before I start my new job, as my 2-week notice said to the managers that I can't work after today. None of them believed that I was actually capable of getting a better job and thought my 2-week notice was a joke. FML

Today, the manager that hired me and worked for years to inspire and connect her staff was laid to rest. Hours before the funeral, her replacement told me he wanted my two weeks notice on his desk tonight. I've been a model employee, he just doesn't like me. FML

as a recent law school grad, you likely have a claim against the "new" employer. if you accepted the offer and detrimentally relied upon that acceptance, you will likely have a case for breach of contract (even though it may not have been in writing). you would likely be able to collect for your past salary for a certain period of time until you find a new job. now if you were hired and then let go within the scope of your employment (even though you technically never started), that sucks

Ya, you can probably file suit. If I were you, I would probably sue, try to get compensation from the "new" boss and look for another job. I wouldn't want to work for a boss as dumb as that one.

Aw man, I hope things work out for you! A friend of mines went through a similar situation a few months ago. He left his manager position for some other job that hired him for a full-time position with a better wage. When he got there, they told him that they are going to give him the part-time job instead. Thanks to the company, he is still currently facing a lot of issues with money and such :@
