Today, my fiancé and I told his family that we would be doing a destination wedding in my home country because it would be cheaper and more accessible to everyone. His parents said they won’t be coming to our wedding unless it’s in New York. We are paying for the wedding ourselves. FML

Clearly they care more about their own convenience than supporting their son on his wedding day. Don’t cave in. You will set a nasty precedent.

That's great you are able and willing to pay for it but are his parents unable to travel due to medical reasons, unable to afford it or would for some reason not be able to get the time off work( if they are working)?
