Content almost refused by staff

Today, my boyfriend and I won $1,000 on a scratch-off, but when he tried to cash it in they told him he owed money to the state so we got nothing. If I had done it instead we would have gotten the money. FML

This is probably better in the long run. It would have had to be owed eventually, and a surprise of $1000 if he were really struggling would have been worse! Stinks, but take it! If it we're swapped I'd hope he'd be supportive too.
