Today, I discovered my new step-dad has a rule about the shower. After three minutes, he turns the water off at the source. I had to beg him to turn it back on whilst covered in shampoo suds, and the only way I could get him to give me another minute was to forfeit my phone for the week. FML

If they move in and are married/in a serious relationship it is their house aswell and adjustments need to be made on both ends. I agree this is too far but if he is serious about this (as an environmental thing or money saver) they can come to an agreement :) What I want to know is how they didn't know this about him before OPs mum/dad married them. He probably lived with them (whether permanently or in and out) for a while before they married

Nobody said he moved into OP'S house. OP and their mom could very well have moved into his house. That being said, 3 mins is unreasonable for a shower.

I understand the control part but I not the abuse part. Unless he is about to flip out and beat them physically or mentally, I don't think you can call him an abuser...

I'd call not allowing proper hygiene abuse. And it sounds as if his behaviour is bullying. I would seek help.

Oh I feel your pain. My dad will only let us shower at certain times and for a certain amount of minutes. I love when he goes on business travel and we can take showers as long as we want!!!

Well op they say, what's good for the goose is good for the gander. Do the same thing to him only give him two minutes instead of three. I'm sorry honey. This guy sounds like a real jerk. Hopefully you're old enough that you can move out soon
