He looked at me with the most confused look on his face. Then he said, ''Are you serious? I was planning the perfect day to ask you to marry me.'' FML

Today, I broke up with my boyfriend. I had only been dating him for about a month. Thinking he wouldn't take it very hard, I invited him over so I could tell him in person. Little did I know he was going to start crying on my couch and not leave for 5 hours. FML

Today, I'd been getting ready to hear my boyfriend's proposal, as his friends had told me he'd talked to them about planning it. He showed up at my house out of the blue… to tell me he's breaking up with me, only to find out he proposed to his ex hours later. FML

Today, after 5 and a half years, my boyfriend had spent months talking about proposing before the end of the year. He'd picked out a ring, told all his friends, and couldn't stop talking about our future. He then dumped me over the phone out of the blue. FML

Smart people would ask what was up before just breaking up. When something like that happens, you have to figure out WHY it's happening and if it can be fixed before jumping straight to breaking up. >.>

Wow, if it only takes 3 weeks for you to consider breaking it off with him, then it's a good thing he found out before he proposed to you. You weren't concerned about the reason he was unavailable or anything? Sounds like you weren't really all that into him. Also, I agree with #2. Learn to communicate.
