Today, it's our fifth-year anniversary with my boyfriend. I gave him his gift and walked over to the kitchen to serve him some food I'd made. On my way back to the dining room, I overheard his plans with his friend to ditch me in 10 minutes. FML

Today, my boyfriend of 3 years announced that he is not ready for marriage, and won’t be for 'at least' another 2 years. Of course he waited to tell me this 2 days after he had proposed to me in front of hundreds of people, I said yes, and we announced it to all our family members and friends. FML

Sorry, but you know whether or not you want to marry someone after four years. If he hasn't at least brought it up hes not interested in marrying you. If you are looking for marriage you don't want to be in one of those 5+ year relationships without marriage just hoping and wishing that he will propose.

And your point is what? There's a difference between knowing and being ready. My husband and I knew that we would marry each other a two or three years into our relationship but he didn't propose till we were 5 years in.

story of my life op. *hugs* i know it doesnt make it any easier, but when he finally does decide hes ready, youll know it wasnt a snap decision, and that he really means it. and if not, then you wont have an expensive divorce to deal with, and youll know he thought about that long and hard too. good things come to those who wait.
