Today, my boyfriend went to ask my dad for my hand in marriage. All I could make out from the door was mumbling, until profanities started flying. My boyfriend shouted "well she's a SINGLE bitch now!" and stormed out of the house. My dad still refuses to tell me what happened in there. FML

Today, my parents met my boyfriend, and to say it went badly is an understatement. My mom went outside to relax by chain smoking and the shouting, and the screaming only ended when my dad took my boyfriend by the scruff of the neck and threw him out the front door into the street. FML

Today, my boyfriend asked my father for permission to marry me. My father refused, on the basis that I'm the only person in the house with a job, and if I leave he will have to start looking for work. My boyfriend won't marry me without his permission, and my lazy father won't change his mind. FML

With what some people have said, that the emphasis as you said seems to be on SINGLE then why was the word thrown in there? It makes it sound like your Dad had used the word bitch first, in order for him to retort like that. Hopefully you do find out soon, your boyfriend hasn't contacted you? It should be between you and him even if your Dad doesn't like him it shouldn't stop your man from being with you... :( Hope things work out.

If he was serious enough to ask your dad for your hand in marriage then I think your dad would've had to have said something to make him break up with you,or maybe your dad broke the last straw
