This is almost exactly how my fiancé proposed to me. It was in a Denny's parking lot and he pulled out a cheap plastic ring with a panda on it( I love love love pandas). Of course, we went and bought a real ring later, together, but the intial gesture was really sweet and romantic. Anyway OP, I hope you said yes.

That man is a winner. He will win at everything he will attempt to win at in life. I hope you said yes to the winner.

One person's trash is another person's treasure :) I wouldn't call her a "bitch" or "spoiled" just for having a preference. My brother proposed to a girl with an expensive heirloom ring and she freaked out and rejected him for "trying to buy her" - he was crushed. We can't judge OP until we know how she reacted. Not everyone wants a restaurant and a diamond, not everyone wants a ringpop and the zoo. Personally, both of those options kind of put me off. The real FML here is that a) you haven't been able to communicate to each other what you expect and what you value (and thus you REALLY don't know each other well enough to get married) or b) you have communicated and haven't been able to find a middle ground where both of you are happy. OP, if you want something other than a sense of humor and cuteness, get out now. Don't settle for someone who isn't right for you and make both you AND him miserable.

that's sooooo awesomely cute!!!!

oh wow a ring pop? that's just wrong I wonder what the real ring will be. I would love to see the look on your parents faces when they see the engagement "ring"

your nuts girl your lucky he even proposed to you if he loves you that's all you need you don't need a giant ass ring to prove it my parents got married with a tied up string of wire WTF get real

"I have a nice man who loves me and wants to marry me. FML" I am so freaking tired of posts like this. Seriously, what the hell is wrong with you? Because he didn't propose to you like every other guy proposes and spend like half a year's salary on a chunk of carbon he's not good enough for you? WRONG. He's TOO freaking good for you. He loves you and has a sense of humor and comes up with a unique and cute way of asking you to spend the rest of your life with him and you post that on FML. I feel so freaking sorry for that poor guy. And by the way, nice job making all women look like idiotic, self-centered, pathetic, stuck up, gold digging, closed-minded creatures who are completely unrealistic in their expectations and can't take the damn stick out of their asses long enough to see what's freaking important in life. You better get down off whatever cloud you're on and come back down to Earth. How the hell do you expect the guy to know what you want and how exactly you want to be proposed to? Did you ever talk about it? Did you ever hint to him? And even still, that's not even the freaking point of a proposal. Little piece of advice for you, since you obviously need it: Relationships are NOT about making the woman happy. Kay? He deserves to be happy and get what he wants every bit as much as you do, or better, reach a point where both of you are happy. And speaking of him, I pray that you said no. Because obviously you're not ready for marriage if all you care about is yourself and you can't communicate what you want or, if you did, weren't mature enough to break off the relationship when you realized you had irreconcilable differences on the subject. I hope that he finds someone who actually appreciates him.
