Today, I was going on a first date with a girl I really like. We were going to see the new Harry Potter movie, and she told me she was getting all dressed up. It was only after I picked her up I realized she meant that she was dressing nicely. I was dressed as Harry Potter. FML

Today, I had my first ever date. He invited me to dinner and a movie. Then he put on "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo." I couldn’t think of an excuse to get out, so I had to wait till the end of the film. FML

Today, I went on my first date in a long time. We went to see "New Moon." After the girl stole my hat, I grabbed her phone. While trying to get it back, she held a lighter to me, threatening me. Next thing I know my beard is on fire, so not only did I have to sit through horrible acting, I got burnt. FML

It was an honest mistake to make. She said "all dressed up" and typically people tend to go all out on costumes for stuff like this. When I saw it, I saw at least 30 people in my theater alone (there were 12 theaters showing the movie) who were completely decked out in Hogwarts garb. The OP was trying to show the girl he appreciated her interests. I don't think it's a FYL or a YDI. Personally I'd find it funny and congratulate you on having a sense of humor and all that.

I'm with you... I thought she was going to be dressed up as a harry potter character and that the fml was going to be that you were in a tux or something like that. Everyone gets into Harry Potter and dresses as a character. I probably will never see it, let alone dress as a Harry Potter character, but I think it's absolutely legit that you dressed as Harry. Though you maybe deserved it a little bit for not clarifying in what way she was dressing up for your first date.

Even though I'm going to sound like a nerd here... I definitely made a shirt that said "I love Oliver Wood, he's a Keeper!" for the sixth book release. OP- Dressing up for a Harry Potter movie means dressing up like a character. Who gets dressed up NICE to go see Harry Potter?! She was wrong here, you should dump her.
