The smell of freedom

Today, I held my bag of burger and fries out the window while driving, to preserve that new car smell. Not only did I hit a pothole and lose my lunch, I got pulled over by a cop who suspected I was either littering or tossing drugs when I saw him. FML

...I don't... I just... what? Of ALL your choices, such as opening the windows, putting the bag in the trunk, using an air freshener, etc, you opted for hanging your lunch out of the car window while driving? I sincerely cannot fathom how utterly stupid this is. Not only is it the most ridiculous solution to the 'new car smell' problem, but also it's dangerous-- imagine being hit by a driver who only has one hand on the wheel because he's holding his ******* lunch out of the window. You could have caused a serious accident in an attempt to save the new car scent for a little while longer. Jesus, even strapping the effing bag to the roof would have been less stupid than holding out of the window while DRIVING. Seriously, there are not many FMLs that make me question OP's sanity but this one takes the freaking biscuit.

No, the cop pulled her over when he saw her drop the food. Like the fml said, he assumed she was dropping litter or throwing drugs out of the car because she saw a police officer.

The cop saw her drop the bag of food and pulled her over. The cop thought she was littering or getting rid of drugs. or The cop was pulling her over because she had the food out the window. Then OP dropped the bag because of the pothole. But then the cop thought OP was littering or getting rid of drugs before she has to talk to the cop.

I just want to know how the cop reacted upon hearing the "I wasn't getting rid of drugs, I was holding my lunch out of the window" explanation. Probably the same way I reacted to this FML. I hope.

That's pretty dumb. Firstly, I'm assuming your food was wrapped up in some way and so probably wouldn't have made your car smell anyway. You could've just opened the windows. Secondly, driving with one hand out of the window holding onto some food is quite dangerous. Just... wow

That smell is chemicals. Unhealthy chemicals at that, though at low enough levels not to be an issue. While the smell is great you jumped over to mild douche-baggery by going to these lengths to preserve it.

The list of things you could have done instead of the most idiotic choice are endless. The stupidity of people baffles me to the point I wish it was painful... I'm not going to list them here cause I'm sure most have been listed from the comments I read, but why didn't you simply eat there...
