Today, my parents said that they bought me a car. I had been begging for one for a year and they always said that I would have to pay for it myself. I got really excited and went to the garage to see my new ride. It was a Hot Wheels car with a note saying, "Save your money". FML

Today, I got woken up by my parents telling me I had to go buy a car so they could have transportation. Neither of their cars work, so I was letting them use mine, and then they wrecked it. It needs nearly a thousand bucks in repairs to be drivable again, but since it was my car, I have to replace it now to appease them. FML

:-) That's basically what my family did to my brother, only we used a model BMW. You kind of deserve that - car's aren't toys and they are expensive to buy and worse to insure. Get a job and pay for it yourself. Best of luck!

73: have you heard of public transit? There are these magical things called buses which lots and lots of people use. Secondly, 16 years olds do not NEED cars. They WANT cars. Big difference!! Most people have to buy their own vehicles. There's no universal law that says that when you turn 16, someone is required to gift you with a car of your very own. I don't get the entitlement complexes going around these days!

If you can't buy a car yourself, how would you supply it with gas and pay the car taxes and such? You weren't going to let your parents pay everything, were you?
