Today, the city shut off our water, because they said we didn't pay the bill. Turns out, it was sitting on their desk the whole time. I guess sending someone out to turn off our water was easier than checking to see if we'd actually paid the bill. FML

I'd try to get a free month of water for that inconvenience. Or at least a huge discount off of next months bill.

Well, that's illegal lol. Water is a necessity, same as Hydro and heat. No one is allowed to cut that off. It's in the Landlord Tenant Act.

Who said OP lived in an apartment? The landlord/Tenant Act is to protect tenants from landlords. It has no bearing on people who own their own home.
