He hath returned

Today, my mom gave me the litany of a lifetime for raising a devil child. Why so? She and my daughter who is 7 years-old attended mass, and after the priest told the parable of The Prodigal Son, she raised her hand. The priest approached, asked and put the mic on her, and she said, "Sorry Father, but that story sucks! Its all about favoritism!" FML

I hope Father went on explaining what Sunday school is for instead of going all "fire and brimstone" on the poor girl.

Your daughter has a better moral compass than most adults. You’ve got nothing to worry about. My 7 year old daughter asked why rainbows still exist… if god made them after drowning everything and almost everyone and promised never to do it again, does that mean that every time we see a rainbow he thought about doing it again and had to remind himself not to do it? What if he forgets to remind himself?

I hope Father went on explaining what Sunday school is for instead of going all "fire and brimstone" on the poor girl.

Indoctrination? taking advantage of the natural trust children have in adults to guilt trip and gaslight them into believing out of fear that there’s an invisible man in the sky who made all the rules and everything in the universe, but don’t ask where he came from, or other intelligent questions because if you think for yourself he’s going to send you to a place for eternity after you die to suffer excruciating pain and torment if you don’t believe in him and the things he supposedly told some goat herders 2000 years ago while he retains the hide and seek championship of the universe for 2 millennia and counting… but hey he loves you.

Instead of telling her off, just maybe be a good Christian example and explain what a parable is and why it means something more on a deeper layer than it appears on the surface.

You mean pretend it means something it doesn’t. Accepting the interpretation of the text your preferred denomination subscribes to, rather than read it and think about it rationally. If your parents treated you and your siblings in that fashion you’d be outraged and I hope you’d never behave that way to your own children. It’s a vile tale from a vile book filled with vile ideas and pronouncements that are demonstrably grossly immoral
