Today my dad asked if he could walk me down the aisle at my wedding. I was just too speechless to respond. He asked me on my doorstep, at 2 a.m., which was also our first ever meeting since he abandoned my mom when she was 5 months pregnant with me, and just disappeared for 28 years. FML

If you have a stepdad or someone else like that, the answer should be a hard no regardless of anything else. If your birth father can afford it and you are looking for someone to pay for you wedding, then possibly you might be tempted to accept his offer - But get the check first and make sure it’s good. Personally I don’t advocate such a thing, but different people have different values.
