Today, as a recovering alcoholic, I'm at a conference where letting loose is expected and, to a point, encouraged. I've been sober for 2.5 years and am pretty sure I managed to piss off just about everyone with how miserable I was listening to them describe my former favorite mixed drinks and shots. I miss wine. FML

Shame on them for pushing you!! I’ve never understood why people who drink always take it as a personal insult when someone says, “no thank you” to alcohol. It’s the only mind altering drug that you have to defend NOT using! Good for you for staying sober!

You're better off without it. Give yourself congratulations for being above the din. My friends would push me to drink faster and not stop till the end of the night. Who needs that?
