All of your "you deserved it" votes are likely from those who have failed a class before. It's not the teacher's fault. If Your teacher happened to be bad, blame yourself for not getting a class change or going to Student Affairs to work it out. However it's more likely you failed because you more than likely aren't asking questions, going to tutoring, or putting an effort up. FYL, you can't make everyone happy if they don't take school seriously. Keep in mind the students who passed. I respect your job.
I have a class (Physics) where BOTH of the teachers that teach it are bad. One does not understand what she is teaching and the other one simply does not care about the class. Despite this, I'm still getting A's, but a lot of people from both of the classes are struggling. So its not always the students' fault. But we don't know much about the teacher though, so I'm rather neutral for this FML.
Try an online course. I had a horrid AP Euro. History teacher and since there is only one teacher for that class I tried it online. I liked it, but it's really up to what your preferences are. Most students prefer a real classroom. You could always try to discuss the teacher's ability to teach with the school board. If enough parents are seeing their students struggling in a specific class and theyre doing everything possible to succeed, they can regard the teacher's ability to conduct a course. My French teacher is disastrous and has a bad way with words, parents have complained so much she won't be teaching next year. GL!
Yep, some of these teachers are bad, and, frequently, Student Affairs doesn't give a goddamn.
I got failed by my english teacher because "I don't like u"
Amen.
In some schools, it's impossible to switch classes.
As long as you did your best to teach your students well, than it's their fault for either not listening or not studying.
Fyl op, a student doesn't work hard enough to pass then blames it on you... Ridiculous!
Well... the good thing is, it probably isn't your fault if the majority of the class passed. Don't take it to heart OP, but... yes that is disgusting. Urgh.
To add on a bit of my own experience with my fellow classmates... In my English class, all we had to do was classwork. Just classwork and attendance; no homework, tests, projects... and yet 4 or 5 people still failed the class. I bet one of them foolishly would blame the teacher for it, as well. There are some children out there who just will not pass a class, even if you make it completely easy for them to so.
I hope that never happens to me. Although I'm a Primary Teacher (Elementary for the Americans) so I'd be very surprised if it did happen!
I feel for you. Kids these days have absolutely no respect for anyone. Sad.
#36 - kids are no different today than they've ever been. there have always been some respectful and some not. there was no golden age in the past when everyone was sweet and well behaved. you cannot extrapolate from one seriously disturbed kid to define a whole generation
I CAN & I WILL. I'm older now & earned that right. :-)
I'm not sure how old you are but there WAS a time when MOST kids gave respect to teachers, police and other people of authority. I know because I grew up during that time.
what kind of shit was it? animal or human?
The irony...
why should the teacher have to talk to a failing student. the student knows he or she is failing, therefore if they want help they go to the teacher or get a tutor. sure some teachers aren't the best, but they try their best. if youre just too dumb to pass with a strict teacher then there is a job flipping burgers waiting for you. its called the real world. you know that thing we live in where shit isn't just handed to us working class people. I had a teacher fail me because I didn't do shit in the class and as soon as I talked to her she was more then willing to let me make up my assignments to pass the class. its called putting your foot in the door. OP you did the right thing, and clearly this student deserved to fail.

That's disgusting :/ At least you can narrow it down to who failed your class... Not so smart are they :)
At least it was in a bag.
