He could be bisexual, though he of course should have told you beforehand. Was there any dates on the love letters to Pablo? Either way, that does suck. And #18, maybe they pretend because there are so many close-minded homophobic people out there. That's why I'm waiting till I leave home before I step out of the closet (I'm bi).
