time to go "no contact" with them
OP, you need to have some sessions with a counselor or psychologist. You need to learn to break the pattern that’s hurting you… We do not have to simply be a continuation of our past. While our past will always be there and have impact, it doesn’t mean it has to be your future… If you are functioning independently otherwise, there is no reason to let your parent(s) bring you down. If that’s the pattern, break it and declare your independence. It could be as simple as blocking their numbers and emails and social site persona. It doesn’t necessarily have to be forever, but it may have to be for the foreseeable future.
