Today, after spending over $1000 on plane tickets, I'm visiting my family for the first time in five years. Two hours after I arrived, everyone is screaming at each other and taking their rage out on me. They still ask why I never visit. FML

Today, I visited my family. Over the course of 2 hours, my brother punched me, and my mom slapped me across the face after drinking way too much wine. When I started gathering my things to leave, my mom started crying about how I don't visit enough. FML

Today, while at a family reunion, my parents kept bringing up horrible things I did when I was about 4-6 years-old that I've been trying to forget for decades. After a while, I just stormed out. When I came back in the room, my dad had the nerve to ask me why I left and why I wasn't talking to him. FML

Today, I've been on vacation with my friend and his family for a week. Apparently, his idea of a vacation includes constant screaming arguments with his wife, while their kids sob in the living room. I tried to take the kids out once and got a lecture on boundaries, which started another huge fight. FML

that's how it is, I don't understand why families fight with each other. mine does the same thing, I have learned over the years, to just, deal with it, and let them. cuz even if u try and do anything they just end up yelling at u, no point. just don't see them, some people r better off with out there families.

It's easy to fix this problem: Don't visit them! That money would have been better spent on a vacation. If they act like that every time and you knew it was going to happen then YDI.

Have them pay for your tickets and hotel next time, explaining you can't afford the extra expense due to hardship (emotional in this case) and the hotel is because you have trouble sleeping when there are other people around, call it paranoia. What a FUN family you have. bummer, that.
