This is phrased really badly. I can't tell if he was saying no or yes, because you used the phrase "in no uncertain terms" it makes it seem like he choked while saying yes you are together.

#24 The problem is that the writer doesn't know the meaning of the tern "in no uncertain terms". She saw the word "no" and assumed it was another way to say no. It's not, but she's trying to say he was denying a relationship.

That could mean two things. Either he really doesn't want to date you, or else he actually does want to date you and was embarresed by the question because you were standing right next to him. I think the last one is the most plausible :)
