unless the smart lock has the master-key ability, I'm surprised any apartment lease would allow them at all. they need to get in and cut off leaking water in an emergency, or even allow police in (peacefully) in the case of a welfare check or even scheduled maintenance.
Good thing you remembered your mother's number.
And this is why completely trusting to technology is a ******* stupid idea.
If they hadn't trusted technology they'd have needed to call a locksmith out. Which is far more expensive than calling your mum.
You may want to consider getting a fingerprint enabled smart lock. That's what I use and they are drop.
Beware of hackers, though. The data that represents your fingerprints can be stolen. You can change your password, but you can't change your thumbprint.
in non-modern life, you would’ve to call a locksmith, minimum fee would’ve been $100
Good thing you remembered your mother's number.
