Let it out

Today, I was working when I delivered the standard "Hello, how are you?" to a customer. He took the opportunity to tell me about his deceased wife, his estranged children, and his anal tearing. After a while, I tried to help someone else, and he complained to my manager. I was written up. FML

*sob* and my poor wife *sob* *sob* and my children are gone and... NEXT PLEASE!

Next time try more merchandise related norms. "are you finding everything ok"? Or "did you find everything today"? Or even "how can I help you today" should serve the customer service needs. :)

"How Are You" in a shop usually means has anything bothered you in the shop, not anything personal, jeesh. But I feel sorry for the guy, he sounds really depressed and obviously has no one to talk to. But definitely FYL I hope you still have your job.

logical...The fella has no wife & kids, so he went "Lookin' for Love in all the wrong places!"

Of course, a good communication skill is to be empathetic. Did you share any of your bum blasting stories with him?

Oh yea, I've had people like that, it's pretty scary what goes on in people's lives, I would give him a number to a therapist so he can talk to someone but not when your at work,
