Today, I was feeling very sad and alone, so I went to see my mom. I was there for over two hours, but she was on the phone gossiping with her church hens for about an hour and 45 minutes. Then she wonders why I hardly ever visit. FML

Today, I called my mother to say hi. She spent a whole hour and a half complaining about how I never call her, bawling and calling me "a waste of human flesh." I call her at least once a week. FML

Today, my mom left the house in the morning, leaving me alone. I called and I got no answer. Hours later, she finally answers one of my calls and tells me that she'd been in an AA meeting all this time. Happy, I tell her to come home. She came home drunk. FML

Today, I called my mom for the first time in a few weeks, just to chat because I miss her. When she picked up, the first thing she said was, "Why are you calling? What's wrong? Do you have swine flu??" When I told her that I didn't, and I just wanted to chat, she hung up. FML

Today, while making New Year's resolutions, I realized that I haven't hung out with anybody other than my family in over two years and I started crying. When my mom came in and I explained why I was crying, she replied, "Well that sucks. I'm off to have lunch with some friends. See you later!" FML

Today, I went over to confront my parents about how my siblings always get to visit and all I do when I’m over is work on their house or take care of grandma. My mom was very upset. Then she snuck out with my sister, leaving me to take care of grandma until she got back. FML

Today, I had an appointment. After 2 hours of waiting in the sun, my mom finally picked me up and lectured me on how irresponsible my dad was for not communicating with her. Not 5 minutes after I got home, my dad showed up and gave me the same exact lecture about my mom. FML

Today, my girlfriend told me she wanted get to know my mom, so they went off and had a chat. After an hour, I noticed my girlfriend was gone and my mom was waiting for me. Apparently I've been dumped through my mother. FML

Sometimes parents can be selfish or at least inconsiderate. Sometimes children of any age can be selfish or inconsiderate. We’re all human, sometimes we don’t live up to each other’s expectations. Before just dropping by, call no matter how close you are. That way Mom knows you are coming by and has the opportunity to be ready for that. It might help in the future. Of course, it’s possible that mom got a call from a friend with hot gossip while you were there and didn’t realize you needed her attention. It’s also possible that Mom is either not that good at mothering her adult children or that OP was more needy than Mom was ready to deal with.
