Today, I fell down the stairs and landed heavily on my foot. Because I wasn't crying, my mom refused to take me to the hospital. It took me an hour of agony to convince her. It turned out to be broken in three different places. FML

Today, I'm on bed rest after a major surgery. I can walk to the bathroom but can barely raise my hands. At the hospital, my mom gave this dramatic speech of being there whenever I needed her. When I asked her to come make me breakfast, she didn’t show up til noon then complained I was in a bad mood. FML

Today, I slipped and fell down the stairs, landing hard on my knee. Through my screams of agony, my mom accused me of exaggerating the pain, and said I was just being an attention seeker, before finally taking me to hospital. I was told my leg was broken. She refused to apologize. FML

Today, I fell down a flight of stairs at college. I was taken to hospital with a fractured ankle and had to call my parents to drive me home. They constantly made passive-aggressive remarks on the way home, because I'd "totally ruined" their plans to eat out at a fancy restaurant tonight. FML

Well how far from the hospital do you live? Your mom may be like mine and not realize that it's not a great time to exercise when you have a cast on your foot. If you live a block or two away she probably is unable to comprehend that things change when you have a cast on.

Your mother should not have called you fat. Whether someone is fat or not, it's offensive. I know rather skinny people(hint hint:me) who feel fat so many times and take it offensively, even as a joke. I would have said right away, "I'm sorry, but I'm twenty minutes away by car and have a cast on my foot. How about we rethink that comment, Mother?"
