Don't do it! Checks leave a paper trail and you can prove you paid her. If she want to denied you ever paid her the cash, she could evict you and you would have no proof!!

That sucks... I'm a landlord but I've never judged any of my tenants on how they look!

Consider bringing this up with your landlord. Also watch out if they have ulterior motives like trying to remove the paper trail so they get paid and than try to sue you or kick you out for "not paying rent"

Make sure you have a way to show you're paying rent. (money orders etc) your landlord could pull a dick move and say you're not paying.

"Sketchy" is a word made up so that close minded squares can have an excuse to harass you in any way possible either in attempts to make you like them, or as an excuse in your case to evict you. It sucks, and you have every right to be who you are, but make certain you get a receipt every single time you pay rent or for anything.

Give her a moneyorder those are basically unofficial cashier checks which u have to pay for in advance, and keep receipts if she ever says u didn't pay. I wouldn't pay cash cause she could say that u didn't pay one day and u won't have. Record of it

Make sure you get a clear receipt. Sounds like your landlord is a scammer..

This is a landlord's way of stealing from you. They claim you didn't pay them. W/out a bank transaction to show you paid the rent, there is no way to show you DID hand them the cash. :( Make sure you get a receipt before handing over any cash. And I wouldn't bother making sure the cash is nice and organized and unwrinkled. Pull it out of a sweaty pocket in a big wad :D
