hey - crayons is where it's at! I always make my postcards out of recycle paper and cheap bic pens.

Ya I think the more you spend on presents for days like these are just an indicator of the guilt you feel for inadequate focus put into the relationship... but that's just me..

I'd rather get a unique card in crayon then a run of the mill Hallmark card that about 40 million other people got.

Some mothers cling to sentimental gestures that remind them of infanthood. I know how you feel, though. My younger sister and I have begrudgingly resigned to the fact that our oldest sister could burn down our mother's house and total her car, say "I'm sorry mommy" in a pitiful tone of voice and the problem would be gone, just like that. Her gifts also consist of tiny cards with sloppy handwriting and "mommy" somewhere on them, which have been on her refridgerator for years, while all other sentiment cards are stored someplace else. She's 28. Don't sweat it. If your mother doesn't expect you to do things like that, then next year follow suit and stick with small gestures that tug the heartstrings.

I actually just made my mom a homemade card for Mothers Day. I went out and got poster board, markers and glitter and went to town on it. She loved it more than the store bought ones or some fancy smancy dinner. Goes to show money isn't everything. (I am also 30 btw)
