Today, my friends were lying on a hill, stargazing. I was next to my crush. I really wanted our conversation to lead to a kiss, but he kept turning away to talk to the person on his right. When he finally turned back, I kissed him by surprise. Turns out the person on his right is his girlfriend. FML

How could you not have known that? It's just a crush, but if you're all hanging out there as friends, I think you should know him well enough to know he has a girlfriend.

Don't ever kiss someone unless they're your significant other or they show signs of wanting to kiss you (leaning in, closing their eyes, pursing their lips, etc). Life is not a movie. Even if you have to ask for a kiss (it's not nearly as awkward and mood-ruining as it sounds) in order to get permission, always get permission.
