Today, after three years, I found out that my boyfriend told his sister in law that he didn't see a future with me. I had to hear it from her. Now his family hates me for breaking it off. FML

Are you sure they were being honest? Or were you able to get an answer from your boyfriend before breaking up with them? I don't think it'd be wise to end a relationship based on something their sister in law told you. Of course, a person willing to end things based on third person claims makes it seem like you were looking for an out.
